Transferring patient profiles

Steps to transfer a patient from your account to their own independent account.

If you have a Maple membership, please note that transferring your account means you will no longer be eligible to share your membership coverage with the person being transferred.

Provincial coverage (such as VirtualCareNS or eVisitNB) cannot be transferred. The person being transferred will need to reactivate provincial coverage again on their new account.

Transferring a patient to their own account allows them to continue using Maple while retaining their medical history as well as any insurance or other coverage that was on the original account. The option to transfer a profile is not available to everyone. If you have any questions, please reach out to our Customer support team.

Once the below steps are complete, the invitee will receive an email with a link for them to create their account.

Profiles cannot be transferred if there are outstanding prescriptions, specialist referrals, or lab requisitions.

Steps to transfer a patient profile

  1. In the main menu, click Profiles.

  2. Click Transfer profiles now. This button appears if a patient on your account is eligible for transfer.

  3. Select the patient you would like to transfer, then click Start profile transfer.

  4. Fill out the patient's email address, their relationship to you, and a security password.

  5. Click Transfer profile to send the invitation. Once the invitation is accepted, the patient profile information will no longer appear on the original account.

    1. If you get the error "The email has already been taken", this means that the patient you are transferring already has another existing account on Maple. To complete the transfer, the patient would need to close their existing account first, and instructions to do so are here: Deleting an account.

In the main menu, click Profiles.

Click Transfer profiles now.

Select the patient you would like to transfer, then click Start profile transfer.

Fill out the patient's email address, their relationship to you, and a security password.

Click Transfer profile to send the invitation.
