Consultations with healthcare providers on Maple can be through text, voice, or video chat. All conversations are through our secure online platform (rather than a conventional phone call or third-party chat service like Skype or Zoom).

All consultations begin with a text chat — you will receive a notification that the healthcare provider has messaged you.

Audio or video calls can be started by the healthcare provider from within the consultation chat room. This is a good option for:

  • Complex cases where visual assessment or more in-depth discussion is needed.

  • Publicly billed consultations which require audio or video calls to be eligible for provincial health insurance coverage.

  • When you'd prefer to speak to the healthcare provider directly.

By offering text, audio, and video options, Maple ensures that you can communicate effectively and get the best medical care possible.
