Privacy at Maple

Updated over a week ago

Your health information stays private and secure on Maple.

We take privacy seriously here at Maple. Your health information always stays private on Maple, and only you have full ownership and control over it. This means no one else has access to your personal health information, and you get to choose who you want to share it with, including any practitioners you see on Maple. We don't exploit patient data for marketing or commercial gain.

If you add any files to your Maple account, they'll be stored in an encrypted and secure location, and you can delete them anytime. If you have a live video or audio visit with a practitioner, none of the footage is recorded or stored in any way.

We follow privacy and healthcare legislation in Canada rigorously, such as PIPEDA and PHIPA regulations. Maple holds SOC 2 Type II compliance and aligns with stringent security standards, including ISO 27001:2013 and NIST Special Publication (SP) 800 series. Our approach is reinforced by consultations with leading experts, guaranteeing robust policy frameworks that are reviewed at a regular cadence.

Your lab results are securely uploaded to your Maple account and can only be accessed by you or a Maple practitioner you are connected with on the platform. If your lab results include a positive result for a reportable infection (such as STIs), it will also be shared with Public Health, in accordance with provincial regulations.
