For Maple’s services to be covered, the province must have public coverage of virtual telemedicine visits and criteria which align with our system.

We only charge a fee for our services when provincial health plans do not cover them. We’d love to be eligible for public coverage consistently across Canada, and we’re working hard to ensure Maple is included in provincial coverage.

If you are eligible for public coverage on Maple, you must add the partnership coverage to your account before accessing these services. A valid health card is required to sign up.

In addition, we have partnerships in select provinces to increase access to care for specific patient populations, particularly those without a family physician:

  • British Columbia: The British Columbia Medical Services Plan (MSP) provides coverage for on-demand consultations with a general practitioner. Visits are available Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 2 pm PT. Patients must have a valid BC health card. Click the registration link here to sign up.

  • Nova Scotia: VirtualCareNS provides coverage to all residents in Nova Scotia with a valid health card. Click the registration link here to sign up.
Note that the services available will depend on whether you have a primary card provider:

    • Full Care: Available to Nova Scotians without a primary care provider who are on the Need a Family Practice Registry. Full Care providers can give you healthcare advice, prescribe medications, and order tests. They can also refer you to specialists and in-person primary health care.

    • Basic Care: Nova Scotians with a primary care provider have two free Basic Care visits within the calendar year, and do not have access to Full Care. Basic Care offers basic healthcare advice or prescription renewals (except controlled substances). Basic Care cannot order tests or refer you to specialists or in-person primary health care.

  • New Brunswick: Under eVisitNB, residents can speak with a physician or nurse practitioner on Maple, every day between 8am and 8pm AT. Click the registration link here to sign up. You can find more information on this program here.

  • Ontario: We’re happy to offer OHIP-covered general practitioner consultations to Ontario residents with a valid OHIP health card. Eligible patients must complete an intake form outside of Maple to request a consultation. Please click the Contact Maple button below to learn more.

  • Prince Edward Island: HealthPEI provides coverage to residents who do not currently have a primary healthcare provider, and are waiting on the provincial registry. Patients will be invited by HealthPEI directly to participate. Visits are available weekdays from 8am - 8pm AT. To register for this program, you will need an email invitation from Health PEI.
