Prescriptions for stimulants through the Beyond ADHD program

How stimulant medications are prescribed and dispensed through Beyond ADHD on Maple

For many patients, stimulant medications are an effective option for reducing core ADHD symptoms and improving day-to-day functioning. Because stimulants are controlled substances, they are prescribed and dispensed differently from other medications on Maple. It’s all to help you get the most out of your treatment while keeping things safe for you, your practitioner, and the wider community.

If your nurse practitioner determines a stimulant is the right fit, they will prescribe it during your appointment. You can have it delivered or sent to a local pharmacy of your choice (more on that in the article here).

Stimulant treatment agreement

Before your first prescription can be issued, you'll need to review and sign our stimulant treatment agreement. By signing the Beyond ADHD contract, you agree to:

  • Stick with one provider and one pharmacy. Only your Beyond ADHD provider will prescribe your stimulant, and you'll fill it at the same pharmacy every time.

  • Take it exactly as prescribed. Don't adjust your dose without talking to your provider first.

  • Complete random urine testing if requested. You're responsible for arranging and paying for it.

  • Attend your appointments and follow-ups, plus any other ADHD care your provider recommends.

  • Check before mixing medications, including over-the-counter and herbal products.

  • Never share or sell your medication.

  • Allow your provider to coordinate with your other healthcare professionals, like pharmacists or doctors.

You will be prompted to complete the agreement in the Maple app before your medication can be dispensed.

Prescription duration

After a new diagnosis, a change in medication or uncontrolled symptoms, the maximum duration of a prescription is 30 days.

Once symptoms have significantly improved and your symptoms and medication dosing are stable, the maximum duration of a prescription is 90 days.

Refills and renewals

Stimulant refills are issued during Step 3 follow-up appointments. Stimulants cannot be refilled outside of an appointment. If your medication will run out before the next available appointment time, please contact our team for assistance.

Lost, stolen, or delayed medication

We will not replace any lost or stolen prescriptions under any circumstances.
