Availability Notice: Our Artificial Intelligence (AI) Intake Assistant is currently available in select programs. Not all patients will have access to it at this time. If the AI Intake Assistant is enabled for your account, you’ll be guided through the process automatically.

Our AI Intake Assistant (“Intake Assistant”) is an administration feature designed to make your consultation experience smoother and more efficient. It does not replace healthcare providers or clinical decision-making. When you submit a request to see a healthcare provider on Maple, the Intake Assistant will ask you key questions about your symptoms, medical history, and reason for the consultation. This helps ensure that our providers have the information they need to better understand your request and to determine next steps.

How it works

  1. Submit a consultation request: Click “Get care” to start a consultation request.

  2. Chat with the Intake Assistant: After selecting your symptoms and describing your request, the assistant will briefly ask you some follow-up questions to gather more details.

  3. Providers review your information: When a provider reviews your request, they’ll see a structured summary of your responses and a full transcript of your interaction with the Intake Assistant.

  4. Start your consultation: If virtual care is appropriate for your request and a provider accepts it, they will already have key details about your concerns, making your consultation more focused and efficient.

Important things to know

  • The Intake Assistant does not provide healthcare: It does not provide medical advice, diagnose conditions or suggest treatments. Only licensed healthcare providers can assess your symptoms and determine the appropriate care plan.

  • It’s simply an administration tool: The AI assistant helps summarize key details regarding your request, but providers will still ask any additional questions they need during your consultation.

  • Your privacy is protected: Maple follows strict privacy and security standards. Your information is stored in accordance with our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, and is only shared with the healthcare providers reviewing your request. For more details about our AI policies, please visit our Security page.

  • Chat transcript location: After completing the intake process, a full transcript of your conversation with the Intake Assistant will be saved in the Consultation Summary section of your Maple account. This allows you to review the information you provided at any time. Your healthcare provider will also have access to the transcript as part of your consultation records.
