Similar to in-person medical encounters, the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) fully insures physicians practising telemedicine.
The CMPA is a not-for-profit association incorporated by an Act of Parliament, and is valued as an essential component of the Canadian healthcare system. Their mission is to protect the professional integrity of physicians and promote safe medical care in Canada. The CMPA considers telemedicine to include any technology that enables the delivery of care at a distance. The CMPA requires physicians to adhere to a set of principles when practicing telemedicine, which all of our physicians are required to follow to provide care through Maple.
