Pillcheck is a Canadian service that uses your DNA to help personalize your medications. It combines a simple at-home cheek swab with a pharmacist-led review of your medications. This type of testing, called pharmacogenetic testing, provides information about how your body may process certain medications and can help your Beyond ADHD nurse practitioner make more informed prescribing decisions.
Your nurse practitioner may recommend Pillcheck if:
You've tried multiple medications without finding one that works well.
You've experienced significant side effects from previous medications.
You'd like more information to guide your treatment plan.
Pillcheck is optional and isn't required to participate in Beyond ADHD. Pillcheck costs $499 (that’s including a $100 discount as a Beyond ADHD patient. This cost isn’t included in your Beyond ADHD appointment fees.
Some private insurance plans may reimburse the cost — always check with your insurance provider to confirm coverage before placing your order. Ask whether pharmacogenetic testing is covered under your plan.

Follow the instructions in the kit to mail your sample to the lab using the prepaid packaging.
Results are shared with both your and your Beyond ADHD practitioner.
Your nurse practitioner will review your results with you at your next Beyond ADHD appointment. A copy of your full report is saved in your medical records on Maple.
