We’re excited to introduce our new Weight Medication Assessment specialty, designed to address the growing demand for effective weight management solutions with expert medical support from our network of dedicated primary care providers. This specialty focuses on determining eligibility for the safe prescription of GLP-1 drugs like Ozemic and Wegovy for eligible patients. Patients will have access to one weight medication assessment per month.
How the Weight Medication Assessment specialty works
Step 1: Eligibility check
To access this specialty, you'll be prompted to complete an eligibility assessment. This ensures that GLP-1 medications are prescribed safely and appropriately to patients who are most likely to benefit from them.
Step 2: Meet with a healthcare provider
You'll request a consultation with a qualified healthcare provider who will review your medical history and discuss treatment options. Consultations are conducted through asynchronous secure messaging, meaning the provider may take 2-3 hours to respond in the consultation chat. We ask that you also respond to their messages within 3 hours, either answering their questions or providing a time when you’d be available to continue.
Step 3: Treatment
All treatment is at the discretion of the healthcare provider. If prescribed, GLP-1 medications will be sent to our partner pharmacy. Once received, the pharmacist will call you to discuss the medication, answer any questions you have and take payment for the medication. You'll receive a tracking number via email for your prescription delivery.

Please keep in mind, prescription medications are only prescribed if deemed appropriate by a Canadian-licensed provider following a clinical assessment.
Step 4: Follow-up care
Your provider may recommend follow-up consultations to monitor your progress. This may be through the Weight Medication Assessment specialty (for prescription renewals) or through the General Practitioner specialty (for any symptoms or questions following the initial assessment).
Depending on your coverage, you may also have access to other specialties which might help in your weight management journey. To learn more about what’s available, check your coverage in your account settings or visit https://www.getmaple.ca/providers/.
Weight Medication Assessment pricing
While speaking with a healthcare provider for a weight medication assessment is covered under the Maple membership fee, any prescribed medications will be an additional cost paid to the issuing pharmacy.
The price will vary depending on the type of medication and dosage prescribed, and this will be communicated by the issuing pharmacy directly.
Some medications may be covered under private insurance plans — please check with your insurance provider.
